Great discussion in class today. Let's continue this. By Monday, please participate in a discussion here about the following: Looking at our past two discussions (the original one, and the thread on theme): - Where in our discussion can we find examples of informal language? Why has it been written that way? For speed? Clarity? Something else?
- What made it easier or more difficult to follow the conversation?
- Where might someone not used to reading and writing this way have difficulty?
- Does it make sense for this audience? Is it appropriate? Is the meaning clear?
- What do you notice about the way the conversation flowed?
- Are there any subvmissions that follow Standard English conventions? What is your perception of them?
Remember, try out the "quote" function as well. That might help you organize the discussion a little more. Happy chatting! I'm enjoying both our in-class and online discussions. ;D Mrs Moreau

Personally I thought the conversation we had was great. Most of it was easy to understand, and it was mostly on topic. I found it easier to post online than it is to participate in class, because you can look over what you've written before posting. Anyone agree?

I think this was a good conversation because there was little to no confusion. We seemed all to have something to say and all have something to share.

It may have been a good conversation, but it didn't go very far. It was mostly " I agree's" and just adding a little bit of their own opinion. Personally I think we could have done better. As well as there was some abreviations used, but sometimes it is easier to make a point or to have more impact on the readers.

Well, it was a lot of people just agreeing with each other and expanding on each others ideas. It would have been a better conversation if it had more to it then just the one side that every one was on. That way there would be people arguing there different points to one another in stead of “I agree” this and “I agree” that.

I agree. The conversation could have gone further but I think it was because people weren't used to posting their opinions online. And it's easier just to say "I agree" rather than repeating what someone already said and then adding on.

Olivia is right about that, i wasn't very used 2 posting online so i altered the conversation at times insted of flowing wit it.

I agree
JK i honestly thought the conversation in class was good but online i think the conversation would've gone further if a lot of people stayed on subject and not just said i agree and then added a sentence or two of their own words but still the same thing that somebody else said. also the way people wrote their, i guess little paragraph made it clearer to understand because we are just talking to our friends not just a teacher

I think that the online discussion had a lot more potential against the in-class discussion. If we had more time it easily could have turned into one of those really interesting argument u can see online. Another thing is that online discutions are easier to communicate with despite the fact that everyone isn't online at the same time whichmakes it so no one willmiss an aspect of the dicussion and because u can express how u feel without being interrupted or interrupting someone else making it also more polite

i think we did pretty well considering the topic of the story line it wasnt very interesting but we still expanded on it and made connections but i find its easier to word things orally then to write. Also i feel if we were given a more meaningfull topic or something we were all passionate about it would have furthered the discussion
